Glossary
Abortion – A medical procedure that ends a pregnancy.
Adolescent – A young person in the stage of development between childhood and adulthood, typically between ages 10 and 19.
Avert – To prevent or stop something from happening.
Bodily Autonomy – The right of a person to make decisions about their own body without outside control or coercion.
Contraception – Methods or devices used to prevent pregnancy.
Developing Regions – Areas of the world where economic development, healthcare, and infrastructure are still growing and may be limited.
Enshrine – To formally protect or guarantee a right or principle, often through law or a constitution.
Family Planning – The practice of controlling the number and spacing of children through contraception and reproductive health services.
Fundamental – Basic and essential; forming a necessary foundation.
Opposition – Resistance or disagreement toward an idea, policy, or action.
Pro-Choice – Supporting the belief that individuals should have the legal right to make their own decisions about abortion.
Reproductive Rights – Legal and human rights related to reproduction, including access to contraception, abortion, and reproductive healthcare.
Rolled back – Reduced, weakened, or reversed, especially referring to laws or rights that were previously in place.
Side Effects – Unintended or secondary effects of a medication or medical treatment.
Unintended Pregnancy – A pregnancy that is unplanned or unwanted at the time it occurs.
