HRRC's Response:

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit India tomorrow and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Blinken plans to discuss India's human rights record and religion-based citizenship law that was enacted in the country two years ago.

PM Modi has many allegations of committing human rights abuses, including heavy discrimination against Muslims. His policies have led to the genocide of not only Muslims, but Kashmiris in the contested state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The U.S. and India have a growing cooperation to build a force against China's movements in the region. However, this goal may interfere with the U.S.'s hopes of stopping human rights abuses in India.

HRRC recommends U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stick to the agenda of ending human rights abuses in India. India's government and PM Modi must stop their targeting of minorities and make reparations to their families.
