HRRC's Response:

December 9 is recognized by the United Nations as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and the Prevention of this Crime, or Genocide Prevention Day. Additionally, this year is the 73rd anniversary of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, commonly referred to as the Genocide Convention. To commemorate this annual observance and the anniversary of the Genocide Convention, the UN is hosting a virtual event scheduled for 11:00-1:00 PM EST with live coverage.

HRRC joins in the observance of this day and strives to educate and contribute in an attempt to generate better understanding of the crime of genocide. We acknowledge that human rights violations are prominent aspects of the genocidal process. Through education and awareness, we hope to inspire action to promote the human rights of all before the issues escalate to the level of war crimes and genocide.
