Srijita Mukherjee comes from an immigrant family living in Thailand. Her dad works in IT but what really stands out about him is his big heart. He's always ready to lend a hand to Indian immigrants who seek better job opportunities and living conditions. He helps them find places to stay and even volunteers with charities, all without asking for anything in return. Because of his generous heart, he's received recognition and awards which inspired her daughter to make a positive impact as well. One of her first experiences was volunteering with a student-led organization that raises funds to help female former prisoners make period pads for girls in rural areas. Srijita graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Sociology and her dissertation focused on how young women in the UK perceive menstrual stigma. Her passions centers around significant issues like gender-based violence, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, genocide, human rights, and immigrant rights. When she's not studying or working, Srijita loves reading, dancing and exploring new cafes!
