Pronouns: He/Him
Khalil Dabdoub is a current clinical psychology doctoral student at Georgia Southern University. Prior to starting his doctoral program, Khalil completed a B.S. in Psychology and Exercise Science at Belmont University and worked as a mental health advocate with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). As a Palestinian Jamaican immigrant, Khalil is passionate about working with marginalized and underserved communities, such as immigrants and forcibly displaced populations (i.e., refugees, asylum seekers). His research and clinical interests focus on health/mental health equity and advocating for social justice and human rights for immigrants and forcibly displaced individuals, such as increasing access to culturally appropriate mental health care. Khalil is interested in ways to mitigate the impact of trauma and promote collective resilience and well-being in forcibly displaced communities. Khalil hopes to work internationally with displaced individuals around the world to bridge the mental health care gap in low- and middle-income countries. He intends to continue to be a human rights advocate and further research to inform advocacy and clinical care.
