Jim Hamilton, MS

Jim Hamilton is an independent researcher and writer whose work focuses on state repression, authoritarian politics, and democratic backsliding with a regional emphasis on Eurasia and the post-Soviet space. His research also engages transnational issues including migration, illicit networks, non-state actors, and transnational repression. He holds an M.S. in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention from Binghamton University and a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Siena University.

His professional experience includes fieldwork in Romania with the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities and support for Indigenous communities facing human rights violations in Central America.
