Àlex Peralta Martínez recently earned an LLM in Public International Law from Utrecht University, where they specialized in Environment and Oceans. Their thesis examined the responsibilities of flag states in preventing the overexploitation of fish stocks within the exclusive economic zones of other nations. Àlex’s research interests lie at the intersection of international environmental law, the law of the sea, and human rights.
They also hold a postgraduate degree in Environmental Law of the European Union from the University of Barcelona, where their research focused on the trade-offs between forest functions in the EU’s forest strategies. Additionally, Àlex earned a Law Degree from the University of Barcelona, with a specialization in international and European law, exploring renewable energy policies and environmental conflicts.
Throughout their academic and professional journey, Àlex has worked closely with NGOs and academic institutions, contributing through legal research, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement. As a member of the LLM Public International Law Student Committee, they have actively fostered academic dialogue and cooperation within their community.
